The Home Trendsetters of 2023: Discover the Best Selling Items for a Stylish and Functional Living Space

As we bid farewell to another remarkable year, it's time to reflect on the home items that revitalized our living spaces. In 2023, emphasis was placed on organic curves and colorful elements, so it comes as no surprise that home furnishings that incorporated these details emerged as the best sellers of the year. That said, I’m always curious what others are purchasing for their homes so I thought it may be fun (and beneficial) to do a roundup and share with you all.

Lighting Edition

Lighting — the jewelry of the home. If you are looking for an organic shaped fixture with scalloped detail, please take a look at the semi-flush light fixture from the Target x Studio McGee collaboration. That fixture adorns the laundry room ceiling in my own home and this past year, I also recommended to a client for their daughter’s nursery. An additional 2023 crowd favorite is the Henry Pendant from West Elm, which is available in several sizes and finishes. Mini-lamps also continue to trend, with the acrylic and gold one from Target being purchased by several of you.

I will forever preach that home decor is one of the most significant aspects that make a house a home. It’s the details that make a space truly unique and personal. Etsy continues to be a go-to source for decorative accents as does Target, as both provide a plethora of unique options that don’t break the bank.

Furniture Edition

Furniture forms the backbone of any designed space. The right furniture can instantly elevate a room, making it look stylish and cozy. And when it comes to furniture, a personal favorite (of mine) is the drink table. These tables are compact, functional, and stylish, and are perfect for those who love to entertain or simply enjoy a quiet evening with a drink in hand. They are a client favorite and have found a place in many projects.

Rug Edition

Rugs — the grounding element of most spaces. While these items can be a pretty penny (especially if they are wool and/or hand knotted), this year I discovered Loloi Rugs (read a blog post on them here) which I continue to source and recommend for almost every client project. So, it should be no surprise the Loloi rug brand was a hit this year.
